TIME OF YEAR TO ELOPE IN Grand Teton national park

Best seasons to elope in Grand Teton:

Spring: May

Summer: June, July & August

Fall: September and October

Winter: November through April

The Tetons are beautiful year round, but each season provides a completely different experience and look. Choosing the right tie of the year depends on the type of scenery you want, and the kind of weather you're comfortable with. Here's what each season is like:

May is stunning if you love a mix of warmth earth tones and fresh spring colors. Most higher areas are still snow covered. May is also a bit more unpredictable, and I would recommend eloping towards mid-end May to avoid the summer crowds.

June is one of the beautiful months in the Tetons. Mountain are still covered in snow and the meadows start to bloom. July is warm, sunny, and full of life. It is also peak tourist season and the days are long. August is about the same as July and so beautiful.

September is a popular month in the park. The temperatures drop, the crowds ease, and the Tetons begin to turn golden. October calm, romantic and perfect for couples who want a moodier feel.

Winter in the Tetons feels like you're stepping into a snow globe. There is heavy snow and not very accessible.

Permits

Next up, let's talk permits.

Large Site-Specific Ceremony Permit

Reserved Site Locations

Small Dispersed Ceremony Permit

How To Apply

Elopement ceremonies in the park require a permit to get married in Grand Teton National Park. Before choosing your ceremony location, it's important to understand the two permit types the park offers. Each one determines where you can get married inside the park.

This permit gives you access to one of the park's designated wedding locations. These are the most popular because they offer iconic Teton views with easy acsces, parking and clear boundaries for your ceremony.

Colter Bay, Schwabacher Landing, Mountain View Turnout, Glacier View Turnout and Snake River Overlook. These locations allow up to 25-40 guests. I'll do in depth in the next section.

This permit allows you to have your ceremony at any approved dispersed area in the park. It is best for couples with fewer than 12 people who want more flexibility or a quieter area that isn't on one of the reserved sites.

In order to get your permit, you need to fill out an application and pay a $200 non refundable fee. This must be done online with a minimum of 30 days before the ceremony date requested. (Don't worry, I'll guide you through this process!)
